Loyalty card for cafés

A café loyalty card that fits the counter routine

Start the free trial 7 days free · pay €0 today · payment card required on activation

A café loyalty card needs a rule staff can explain during a busy shift. With Iterum, the owner chooses a stamp target and reward and displays a QR code. Customers open a web card on their phone without installing an app. Staff scan the card to confirm eligible visits. The 7-day trial requires a payment card.

Decide what earns a stamp first

Choose whether every eligible visit counts or only a particular occasion, such as breakfast. Write the rule so every person at the counter can apply it during a busy shift. Iterum records a visit confirmed by staff; it does not read the till or automatically award stamps according to receipt value.

Set the target and reward against your real margins. Breakfast, lunch and afternoon visits below are examples for planning, not recommended thresholds or promised results. See the customer loyalty programme guide for help defining clear rules.

Example café rules to adapt to your actual costs
OccasionVisit rule to defineReward to consider
BreakfastOne eligible breakfast under your posted ruleAn item your café can afford to provide
LunchOne lunch visit confirmed by staffA small benefit with clear conditions
AfternoonAn eligible visit during the stated hoursA reward that matches availability and format

The counter flow

Display the QR code where a customer can scan it without holding up the queue. The enrolment page opens in a browser. The customer ticks a required checkbox relating to the privacy notice, then sees the card. Name and recovery contact are optional, and no password is needed.

On a later visit the customer shows the card. Authorised staff scan it and record the stamp. When the target is reached, the café checks and redeems the reward. Test the full flow with two phones before printing your final QR code.

  1. Write the rule

Describe an eligible visit, the stamp target and the reward in a sentence staff can repeat.

  2. Place the QR code

Check that it scans from a comfortable position at the counter.

  3. Test stamps and redemption

Let staff on a busy shift try both actions, then clarify confusing instructions.

A web card or a paper stamp card?

Paper is useful when customers do not use smartphones or the café wants to test a manual programme. A digital card shows stamps on the phone and is less likely to be lost. In return, enrolment and visit confirmation require a connection.

See the café card design preview before building your own. It uses invented sample data and does not represent a customer café. The digital loyalty card guide explains the format, privacy flow and limitations.

What to check after launch

If people open the QR code but few receive stamps, watch the counter flow: do staff have time and know when to confirm a visit? If stamps accumulate but rewards are not redeemed, check whether the target and instructions make sense. These are operational signals, not evidence of increased revenue.

The owner panel records visits and redemptions. Aggregate analysis and a customer list depend on the chosen plan. Iterum does not replace the POS or attribute sales to the programme on its own.
