Beauty salon promotion ideas: packages, offers and messages for your clients

Beauty salon promotion ideas come down to four tools: treatment packages with a written expiry date, a calendar of seasonal offers, a reason to come back (stamps or points, birthdays, bring a friend) and messages only to clients who agreed to receive them. Iterum (by FIDUS) covers packages from the Pro plan, the card, birthdays and messages; it does not do bookings or payments.

Six beauty salon promotion ideas, with their cost and risk

A promotion earns its place when it answers one clear question: how to fill a quiet day, bring back a client you have not seen for months, or get people to try a new treatment. The real cost is nearly always the same, a therapist’s time that you give away, so start from how full your diary is, not from the discount.

The table sets six ideas side by side. Where a topic already has its own guide the link sits in the sections below: packages and prices here, the card mechanics in the guide to a loyalty card for beauty salons.

Six beauty salon promotion ideas compared
IdeaWhat it isWhen to use itCost and risk to checkWith Iterum
Treatment packageSeveral sessions of the same treatment paid for upfront, usually with one session freeFor treatments that repeat at regular intervals: waxing, facials, lashes, massageCost: the free session. Risk: sessions never used. Write the expiry and the terms before you sellPrepaid packages from the Pro plan; you still take the payment at your own till
Seasonal offerAn offer tied to an occasion, with a start date and an end dateAround Valentine’s Day, International Women’s Day, Mother’s Day (Festa della mamma), SeptemberCost: the discount plus the time to prepare it. Risk: teaching clients to wait for the next offer. Set an end date and keep to itOne message to clients who agreed to offers, within the plan’s monthly limit
Stamp or points cardA reward after a set number of treatments, or after collecting pointsAlways: it rewards the clients who come back, not only the ones who arriveCost: the reward, which you only give after paid treatments. Risk: rules too long to explain. Estimate the reward cost before you launchA card in the phone’s Wallet with no app, on stamps or points
BirthdayA message on the client’s birthday, with a small gift if you likeAll year round, once a year for each clientCost: the gift, only for those who collect it. Risk: asking for a date of birth without saying what it is forA «Happy birthday» automation, switched off until you turn it on
Bring a friendA client invites a friend and, at the friend’s first real visit, both get a rewardWhen the diary has room and you want new clients without advertisingCost: the reward, twice, only if the friend really comes. Risk: rewards for someone who is not new. Set a monthly cap«Bring a friend», on every plan, with a monthly cap from 1 to 50
Quiet days and hoursA benefit valid only on certain days or times, to move bookings to where the diary is emptyWhen Tuesday morning is empty and Saturday is fullCost: an extra stamp or a discount, on those days only. Risk: moving clients who would have come anyway. Check the diary after a few weeksYou give the benefit at the counter, for example several stamps in one visit; a message tells clients. No link to the diary

Treatment packages: price, expiry and the rules to write down

A package is the easiest promotion to explain, because the benefit is one number: the client pays upfront for several sessions of the same treatment and gets one free, for example 10 sessions for the price of 9.

An example with invented numbers, not measured data: if one session is worth 100, the pack of 10 takes 900 instead of 1,000. The client saves 10%, you give up 100, which is the value of one session, and you collect the rest straight away. The upside is cash upfront and a reason to come back; the risk is that the last sessions stay in a drawer, and that a free session takes a slot from a full appointment.

Before you sell, decide and write these five things, because they are the ones that get argued about at the desk:

  • Which treatment and how long: «60-minute facial», not «a treatment of your choice».
  • The expiry: a number of days from the sale, or one date for everyone, such as 30 June.
  • Whether an appointment is needed and how much notice cancels without losing the session.
  • Whether the package is personal or can be given to someone else.
  • What happens to unused sessions at expiry.

Where the package is managed, and where it is not

How to create, sell and use up a package in Iterum is in the guide to the prepaid punch card: formats from 1 to 20 uses, validity up to 730 days, a QR code that works once, a tap on «Use 1» and ten minutes to undo. The questions about receipts and VAT are there too.

This page keeps the commercial side: how much to discount, for how long and to whom. If your salon already sells time-based memberships or gift vouchers in euros, keep them in your own system: Iterum does not handle them.

A beauty salon promotion calendar: November 2026 to October 2027

The calendar is there to decide what to prepare in advance, not to forecast demand: we have no data on which months are strongest for a beauty salon, and your local calendar matters more than ours. The dates are for 2026 and 2027; the weekday tells you whether you are open that day.

Beauty salon promotional text messages: 9 examples under 140 characters

A good promotional message says one thing, with a date and an action. The examples below are our own, for an imaginary salon, and need adapting: each is under 140 characters, the limit of a message in Iterum, and none contains a web address, an email address or a client’s name.

  • New pack of 5 facials, valid for 90 days. Terms are on your card. Ask at reception how to get it.
  • We have space on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings: book a treatment then and get an extra stamp on your card.
  • Happy birthday from all of us! A small gift is waiting at reception this month. Just show your card.
  • For Valentine’s Day, a treatment for two: book by 10 February and pick the time that suits you.
  • Bring a friend: on her first visit you each get a free stamp. Tap «Invite a friend» on your card page to send your link.
  • September is here and the diary is open: book your treatment by the 30th and ask about our new pack.
  • Your pack has an expiry date: check it on your card and book the sessions you have left. We look forward to seeing you.
  • Mother’s Day in Italy (Festa della mamma) is on Sunday 9 May: a pack of treatments makes a lovely gift. Ask at reception for options and terms.
  • You are one visit away from your card reward. Come in this week: call us and we will find a time that works.

In Italy: discounts and the previous price under Article 17-bis

In Italy, announced price reductions have a written rule in Article 17-bis of the Consumer Code (Legislative Decree 206/2005), updated by Legislative Decree 26/2023. On Normattiva, read on 3 November 2026 (in Italian), paragraph 1 requires every announcement of a price reduction to state the previous price, and paragraph 2 adds: «Per prezzo precedente si intende il prezzo più basso applicato dal professionista alla generalità dei consumatori nei trenta giorni precedenti all’applicazione della riduzione del prezzo», which means the lowest price the trader applied to consumers in general in the thirty days before the reduction.

On scope, paragraph 1 speaks of announcements of price reductions in general, while paragraphs 3 and 4 name «products» (perishable ones, and ones put on the market less than thirty days ago). The text we read does not say expressly whether the rule also covers a service such as a treatment. For the creams and other products you sell at the desk the references to products are the clearest; for treatments and packages it is a question for your adviser before you write «-20%» or show a crossed-out price.

Paragraph 7 provides an administrative fine for breaches; we do not quote the amount. If a benefit depends on a contest, a points collection with prizes or a draw, other rules apply: they are in the guide to loyalty card rules in Italy.

  • Is my discount on a treatment an «announcement of a price reduction» under Article 17-bis?
  • Is a «10 for the price of 9» package one, if I write neither a percentage nor a crossed-out price?
  • If I cut the price of a cream on sale, which price from the previous thirty days do I start from?

Bringing clients back, not only finding new ones

Besides looking for new clients, give the ones who already hold your card at least one reason a month to return. For repeat treatments, stamps and points are two different choices: which suits you, with the rules by treatment, is in the guide to a loyalty card for beauty salons.

Birthdays are the easiest reason to explain: how to set the text, the gift and the timing is in the guide to birthday messages for customers. Word of mouth, with a reward for the client who invites and the one who arrives, is in the guide to a referral programme.

One thing never to do: give a benefit in return for a review. Google forbids it for Maps reviews, and the source is given in the guide on how to promote a loyalty card.

What Iterum (by FIDUS) does for beauty salon promotions, and what it does not

Iterum (by FIDUS) is a digital loyalty card: the client saves it in the phone’s Wallet with no app to download, and whoever is at the desk scans it to give a stamp or use up a session. For the promotions on this page it does these things, and no others.

Beauty salon promotions: what Iterum handles and what it does not
TopicWhat Iterum doesWhat it does not do
Treatment packagesPrepaid packages from the Pro plan: sold from the dashboard, used up at the desk, renewed on the same cardIt does not take the payment, issue receipts or sell time-based memberships
A reason to returnA stamp or points card, «Happy birthday» and «Bring a friend», which is on every planIt does not read your diary or know which treatment was done unless the person at the desk confirms it
Messages to clients2, 4 or 8 messages a month per location, depending on the plan, on the Wallet card of clients who agreed to offersIt does not send texts, email or WhatsApp, and it does not post on Instagram
Diary and paymentsNothing: bookings and payments stay in the tools you use todayNo diary or bookings, no payments, no gift cards or credit in euros

How to test a promotion with Iterum before you spend time on it

The simplest way is to start with one idea from the table and measure it for a month. With the reward cost calculator you estimate what a card reward costs before you launch it; then you can start the 7-day trial, set up the card, the package or the message and decide afterwards. The trial needs a payment card and the plan you chose continues after the 7 days unless you cancel; prepaid packages are on the Pro plan.

Sources and method

Sources read on 3 November 2026: Legislative Decree 206 of 6 September 2005, Article 17-bis, on Normattiva (in Italian); Legislative Decree 196 of 30 June 2003, Article 130, on Normattiva (in Italian); Italian data protection authority, guidelines on promotional activity and spam, 4 July 2013 (in Italian); Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003, regulation 22, on legislation.gov.uk.

The six ideas, the calendar, the nine messages and the package example are our own and are not measured data: the example’s numbers are invented and the calendar does not say which months are strongest. The information on Iterum describes the product on 3 November 2026, and the plans are compared on the pricing page.

Frequently asked questions

Is a discount or a package better for a beauty salon?
It depends on what you want. A one-off discount brings a booking and lowers the price of that treatment; a package sells several sessions upfront and gives the client a reason to return until they are used. A package needs written terms, such as an expiry; in Italy, a discount announced as a price reduction needs a clear previous price.
How many promotions a month should a salon run?
There is no right number for everyone. With Iterum (by FIDUS) each location has 2, 4 or 8 messages to clients a month depending on the plan, Base, Pro or Premium: use them for one clear promotion at a time, with an end date, so staff know what to promise and clients do not wait for the next discount.
Can I send promotions to clients on WhatsApp?
In Italy, only to clients who consented to receive promotions. The Italian data protection authority’s guidelines of 4 July 2013 apply the Privacy Code to messages sent through WhatsApp and similar tools, and say the first promotional message cannot be used to ask for consent. Iterum does not send WhatsApp: its messages arrive on the Wallet card.
How do I promote a beauty salon in quiet months?
Look at your own diary first: the quiet months or days are the ones you find there, not a calendar that fits everyone. Then pick one lever, such as a package with a start and an end date, a benefit valid only in empty slots, or a message to clients you have not seen for a while, and after a few weeks check whether bookings moved or grew.
Do promotions also apply to products on sale?
It depends on how you write them. A package covers sessions, not creams. In Italy, if you announce a price reduction on products you sell at the desk, Article 17-bis of the Consumer Code names «products» and requires the previous price, the lowest in the thirty days before: ask your adviser to confirm.
Does Iterum handle bookings for promotions?
No. Iterum has no diary or bookings and takes no payments: you sell and take the money as you do today. Iterum keeps the packages, the stamps or points, birthdays, «Bring a friend» and the messages to clients who consented. Bookings stay in your own system or on your phone.
