Bakeries and bread shops
A digital loyalty card for your bakery counter
At a bakery counter, a clear rule helps staff handle bread, pastries and mixed orders consistently. Iterum’s described flow uses a web card opened from a QR code or link: the owner sets the eligible visit, stamp target and reward; authorised staff scan the card to confirm a stamp. Customers do not need a dedicated bakery app, but an internet connection is required.
Bread, pastries or a mixed basket: define the visit
A customer may buy a loaf, add a pastry or place a larger order at the same counter. Decide in advance what earns a stamp: an eligible visit, a defined occasion or another rule your team can recognise. These are examples for planning; Iterum does not detect qualifying items automatically.
Iterum does not read the receipt, till or products in a basket. Authorised staff checks the rule you chose and manually confirms an eligible visit by scanning the customer’s card. Give every shift the same short explanation so customers know when a stamp is awarded.
| Occasion | What to decide | Limit to remember |
|---|---|---|
| Bread purchase | Which products or visits qualify | Iterum does not identify the purchased product |
| Breakfast counter | When a visit falls within the chosen hours | Staff applies the rule manually |
| Mixed order | Whether the visit or a defined selection counts | No amount is read from the till |
The QR opens the card; staff confirms the visit
Display a QR code or share a link so customers can open the web card on their phones. During enrolment, the customer sees the privacy notice and accepts the required checkbox; they do not need a dedicated bakery app. This process requires an internet connection and a device with a camera.
On a later visit, the customer presents the card and an authorised team member scans it to confirm the stamp. Try the steps with the people serving at different times, and make the qualifying-visit rule clear before customers join.
Write the eligible-visit rule
Choose a rule staff can explain in a few words.
Place the QR code visibly
Give customers room to open the card without blocking service.
Confirm the stamp
Authorised staff scans the card after checking the bakery’s rule.
Choose a threshold and reward your bakery can afford
A reward should be clear to customers and affordable for the bakery. Before activation, estimate its actual cost and divide by the visits required: the reward-cost calculator helps with that calculation, but it does not predict extra visits or revenue.
See the illustrative bakery card design. Its name, stamps and reward are sample data, not a bakery customer’s programme or evidence of results.
The card does not replace till or order software
Staff confirms the visit. The card does not read receipt value, basket contents, orders or bookings, and it does not automatically award a stamp per product. Enrolment and stamping require an internet connection. A paper card remains an option for customers who do not use a smartphone.
