Iterum vs SumUp Loyalty: QR visits or automatic rewards

Start the free trial 7 days free · pay €0 today · payment card required on activation

Iterum and SumUp Loyalty use different workflows. Iterum presents a web card opened by QR or link and records visits confirmed by staff. SumUp says points or stamps accrue automatically when a customer uses the SumUp Local flow with a linked payment method at a participating business. The benefit is no card scan; the constraint is the payment and app ecosystem.

Compare a visit with a linked payment

SumUp announced Loyalty availability in Italy and publishes support articles for setup, campaigns and redemption. This comparison covers the earning methods described by each provider; account and payment eligibility must be checked with them.

When to consider SumUp

SumUp may fit better if you already use its ecosystem, your payments meet the programme rules and you want accrual without asking staff to scan a card at each visit. SumUp describes campaign and performance tools. Ask which payment methods, transactions and merchant accounts qualify: public pages do not prove that every payment or merchant participates.

Where Iterum may fit

Iterum may fit if you prefer a loyalty card opened by QR or link and want staff-confirmed visits without asking customers to install SumUp Local or connect a payment method. The reward threshold is configurable. Iterum does not award points by automatically reading transactions and does not replace a till or POS.

Availability and costs to clarify

SumUp announced Loyalty for Italy, but the sources checked do not establish a universal price/fee or eligibility for every merchant and payment. Ask SumUp for terms tied to your account and transaction rules. Iterum advertises a 7-day trial, requires a card and applies the selected plan after the trial unless cancelled: see Iterum trial terms. Do not compare trial length alone as total cost.

Three checks before you choose

  1. Map the payments that matter

Ask SumUp which transactions and linked payment methods earn points in your setup.

  2. Test the counter action

Compare linked-payment accrual with staff scanning and confirming a visit.

  3. Calculate full cost

Request written prices, fees, account requirements and cancellation terms.
